When you join a Coresee room from a phone or tablet, you can choose which microphone, speaker, and camera you use — before you join or at any point during the session. This article walks through how to select your devices, then covers what to do if the sound or video is still coming from the wrong place, such as a phone’s earpiece instead of its loudspeaker.

Choosing your devices in the lobby

The lobby is the screen you see before entering a room, where you can preview your camera and check your audio. Setting your devices here is the easiest way to avoid surprises once the session starts.
1

Open your room link on your phone or tablet

You’ll land in the lobby, where you can see a preview of your camera before entering the session.
2

Access the speaker, microphone, or camera control

Each control has a small arrow next to it. Tapping the arrow opens the list of devices your phone has available for that input or output.
3

Select the device you want

For audio output, choose your phone’s loudspeaker rather than the earpiece. A checkmark shows which device is currently active.
Click Join! Your selections carry into the session. You can still change them once you’re inside.

Changing devices while you’re in the room

You don’t have to leave the session to fix your audio. The same controls live in the bottom bar and can be changed on the fly, without interrupting the session for anyone else.
1

Access the Settings button on the bottom bar

Plugging something in mid-session? If you connect earbuds or a Bluetooth headset after joining, reopen the speaker and microphone controls — the new device will appear in the list and can be selected straight away.

Sound coming from the earpiece instead of the speaker?

If you join from a phone and the audio sounds quiet, thin, or as though it’s only audible when the phone is held to your ear, your audio output is routed to the earpiece rather than the loudspeaker. This is decided by your phone and its browser, not by Coresee. Mobile browsers pick a default audio output when a session starts, and on some devices that default is the earpiece. It’s more likely to happen when:
  • A Bluetooth headset or earbuds were connected — or recently connected — when you joined
  • You joined immediately after a phone call, while the earpiece was still the active output
  • Your phone was held to your ear or covered by a case when the session started

If the sound is still coming out of the wrong place

When the audio output list isn’t available in Coresee, or selecting a device doesn’t change anything, your phone is holding onto its own routing decision. You can override it from the operating system.

On iPhone or iPad

  • Open Control Center and tap the audio routing control (the small icon in the top-right of the media tile), then select iPhone Speaker or iPad Speaker
  • If a Bluetooth device is connected but not in use, disconnect it from Settings → Bluetooth and the audio will fall back to the loudspeaker

On Android

  • Open the notification shade and use the audio output selector on the media notification to pick the phone speaker GREYED OUT NOW
  • Check Settings → Connected devices for a paired headset that may be claiming the audio

Still no luck

  • Turn Bluetooth off entirely, then rejoin the room
  • Close other apps that use audio — a call, a music player, or another video app can hold the output
  • Check that your phone’s volume is turned up and the silent switch (iPhone) isn’t on
