# Using the Whiteboard

The whiteboard is a shared drawing surface you can bring up during a session — useful for sketching ideas, annotating a discussion, or working through something visually with everyone on the call.

When someone turns on the whiteboard, it appears as a shared tile in the room for every participant at the same time. Everyone sees the same canvas, and everyone can draw on it — there's no single "presenter" of the whiteboard the way there is with screen share.

  **The whiteboard persists:** Drawings stay on the board between sessions in the same room. Closing the whiteboard or ending the session does not erase it — the board only empties when someone clears it using the Reset tool.

## **Opening and closing the whiteboard**

The whiteboard is turned on and off from the Bottom Bar during a session.

### **To open the whiteboard**

Click the Whiteboard button in the Bottom Bar. The whiteboard appears immediately for everyone in the room, showing the board exactly as it was left last time.

### **To close the whiteboard**

Click the Whiteboard button again, the board disappears for everyone. The drawing itself isn't affected — it's still there the next time the whiteboard is opened.

  **It's a shared toggle:** Turning the whiteboard on or off affects the whole room at once — anyone can open or close it, including closing one that someone else is actively using.

## **Drawing tools**

Once the whiteboard is open, a toolbar appears on the canvas with everything you need to draw and mark it up.

* **Color -** Sets the color of your next stroke.

* **Pen -** Draws freehand strokes on the board. Choose a brush size (small, medium, large, extra-large) and a marker style. The pen can draw in two styles:
  * **Permanent** — the stroke stays on the board until it's erased or the board is reset.
  * **Autofade** — the stroke fades away on its own after a short time, useful for pointing something out without leaving a permanent mark.

* **Eraser -** Removes parts of a drawing.

* **Screengrab -** Takes a snapshot of the whiteboard as it currently looks.
  * **Save locally to device** — downloads the snapshot as an image directly to your computer. Nothing is saved to the room.
  * **Save to media room folder** — uploads the snapshot to the room's media library, where it appears in the **Files tab** for everyone in the room to find later.

* **Reset -** Clears the entire whiteboard for everyone in the room in one action. There's no confirmation prompt before it happens.
