# Connect a PTZ Optics camera

This article walks through connecting a PTZOptics PTZ camera to a Coresee room as an **Inbound Feed**, using RTMP. It covers initializing the camera on your network using its built-in web interface, then pointing the camera's RTMP output at a Coresee Inbound Feed so it appears as a live source inside the room.

**<kbd>Tested on Windows 11</kbd>   <kbd>Protocol: RTMP</kbd>   <kbd>Streaming tab → Inbound Feeds</kbd>**

## **Before you begin**

Make sure you have the following ready before starting.

* A PTZOptics PTZ camera, powered via PoE (Power over Ethernet) or a power cable, and reachable on the same local network as the computer you'll configure it from.
* A computer on that same network with a web browser (steps below were tested on Google Chrome).
* An active Coresee room with access to the [**Streaming tab** in the Side Panel](/streaming-tab), and host or co-host permissions to create an Inbound Feed.
* The camera's PTZOptics Quick Start Guide, for any model-specific detail not covered here — these steps follow it closely but are not a substitute for it.

## **PTZOptics Device Initialization**

The following instructions were tested on Windows 11, but should also work on macOS. They closely follow the device initialization instructions included in the PTZOptics Quick Start Guide.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Power on the camera and connect it to your network">
    Power the camera either via PoE or a power cable. Make sure it's on the same network as your computer.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open the camera's web interface">
    In your preferred browser (tested on Google Chrome), go to [http://ptzoptics.local/](http://ptzoptics.local/). If the camera is detected on the network, its login window appears.

    If the camera doesn't appear, confirm it's powered on and on the same subnetwork as your computer.

  </Step>

  <Step title="Log in with the default credentials">
    Enter **admin** as the username and **admin** as the password. You may also be prompted to set a new set of credentials for the camera.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Check>
  **Camera initialized** You should now see a preview of the camera feed. The camera is initialized and ready to be configured for streaming.

## **RTMP stream setup**

For this section, a Windows 11 computer on the same network as the camera was used, but any device with browser access to the camera's web interface should work. These steps configure the camera to push its feed to a Coresee Inbound Feed over RTMP.

<Note>
  **Create the Inbound Feed first.** Before starting below, open the room's **Streaming tab** in the Side Panel, [create a new Inbound Feed](/inbound-feeds), and select **RTMP** as its protocol. Expand the feed card to reveal its **Server URL** and **Channel ID**
</Note>

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the camera's web interface">
    In your preferred browser (tested on Google Chrome), go directly to [http://ptzoptics.local/](http://ptzoptics.local/) — or the camera's IP address if that doesn't resolve — using the same camera configured in the previous section.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set the video encoding parameters">
    In the left side panel (click the three-bar menu icon if it's collapsed), go to **Video Config → Audio & Video → IP Video Stream 1: Encoding Setting**s and set your streaming parameters (resolution, frame rate, bitrate, and codec).

    <Note>
      To ensure stable performance over various connections, reduce the bitrate to 5000 kbps.
    </Note>

  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter the Coresee Inbound Feed details">
    * In the left side panel, go to **Video Config → Streaming Settings → RTMP(S) Stream 1**
    * Enter the Coresee Inbound Feed's connection details
    * Click Apply

  </Step>

  <Step title="Enable the stream">
    Switch Enable Stream to On, then click Apply
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Check>
  **Feed is live in the room!** The camera feed is now accessible as an Inbound Feed inside your Coresee room. Once the feed appears in the room's files, a host or co-host [can bring it into the stage like any other media source.](/help/control-panel/present-in-room)
